Year 2 for these hops. Last year they were container gardened. We put them in the soil at the end of last year after the bines died back (which was while we were away on vacation). This year they did much better and are now reasonably lush. The cones seem a little small and I'm having a bit of a time trying to figure out the optimum time for harvest. But since the dry sunny weather can't last, and the weekend is the only time I'm not overrun with other tasks I'll harvest them today. I figure better to get them a little early than not get them at all! They already seem pretty dry, so I'll put them in the dehydrator for just a bit before packing them in baggies and dropping them into the freezer. Now to get a batch of brew on so I can try these babies and see what they are like. I have mixed expectations.
